Episode 69 - Edgar Allan Poecast 2

It’s the second Edgar Allan Poecast!
I have no time due to work, but these people I guess have some, so they did some interpretations of the works of Poe.
How kind of them.
Here they are:
Laura Squirrel - The Raven
The Smudge - Eldorado
Jim Haku - Dreamland
T. Volpone - Spirits of the Dead
Sara Century - William Wilson
Yeah.

Episode 68 - Twinja Food Wars

We don’t really talk much about food. There’s a good story about Sean Penn, Lars Ulrich, and an 8-ball. I’m pretty drunk. I don’t know.

Featuring Khaleesatee, Cylontater, Din Of Inequity, Imtiredthatisall, expressleyfalseclaim, and Brand Duamis. If I forgot anyone, fuck you, or tell me.And support us! Subscribe! Episode 67 - Jon Seidman's Book Sucks

We're back! And with another total fucking loser, little Mr. Jon Seidman!

Seidman asked to come on the show and talk about failure, but then failed at fucking that, too. So, I just berate him and try to force him to be even moderately self-aware... and fail. Because I, too, am a failure.

The sound's also blown out a lot of the time cause I'm lazy. I'll worry about quality when I have a quality guest on, which should be every upcoming episode over the next couple months. No more of this bullshit.

Oh, and I was on Eric Roberts is the Fucking Man, if you wanna check that out.

Episode 66 - I Am Alone and the Bathroom is Flooded

Brandon Dumais is back! Back for part two of the Miserable Failures series.

He leaves me 15 voicemails over the course of half an hour, in which he tries to recap all of Alice in Wonderland from memory while getting more and more drunk.

Then we talk for another hour while getting more and more drunk.

We're both miserable failures, so we bond over that. It's miserable.

He talks about being institutionalized (sectioned), I talk about institutionalizing (sectioning) someone else and a date I had with a person that was institutionalized (sectioned) a couple months earlier.

He's moving to Madrid in a few months. What an asshole.

Check out the blog for the photo this is named after.

Episode 64 - Procastibation

I didn’t do any interviews yet. I need to move out. Living here isn’t working for this sorta stuff.

So, here’s a bag of shit. A “radio play”, another “radioplay,” and then me telling a story.

Features music by the Smudge, Blood Loaf, Rasputin's Secret Police, Zack Connor, Lost Puppies, and maybe others.

Features performances by Sean Abbott and Jufu Haopimjai and kinda Jeff Weiner and some writing by Joshua Martin and other stuff done by Jill Hackney.

Good ‘nuff. For you people, at least.

Episode 63 - A bunch of failures

Today’s episode is late because I’m a failure. So, I talked to some of my friends about being failures. Also, how not to be failures. But mostly about being failures.

They’re not really failures. America is the failure, amirite?

Anyway, support us, failures! Subscribe! Send guest suggestions! Send money! Maybe I'll send you a thrift store postcard? I've been finding a lot of places around Philly that have random old, unused postcards lately.

What's there to say about the Smudge?

Music. Buy it.

That's probably enough.

Episode 61 - wosX

Back from an unplanned break with vaporwave documentarian and hardvapour pioneer, wosX. He tries to explain to me what vaporwave is, what it can be, what it shouldn't be, and why it matters at all, I guess.

Seriously, what the fuck is vaporwave?

You can check out wosX's short documentary, Vaporwave: A Brief History, if you're still as confused as I am. I guess none of this matters anyway since vaporwave is dead.

All the vapor and vapor-adjacent music featured in this episode:

Analog Dementia - 歓迎 - Television Dreams (vaporwave)

Yarinka Collucci - Rolling Dolphins (seapunk)

The Smudge - Kenney G.angsta (Low Ohm Drip Box Mod) (vaporwave)

wosX - VII. L$D (hard vapour)

The Smudge - Palms (vaporwave)

2814 - 恢复 (post-vaporwave?)

wosX x Zeke - Lifeguard ファンク (future funk)

Episode 60 - Jeanette Lynne's Philly Mix

Today Philadelphia-area singer/songwriter Jeanette Lynne returns to play some clips and share her thoughts on her favorite songs by some of her favorite local artists. At least three of the artists happen to be her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The songs featured include:

Mackenzie Johnson - Pretty
Sweet Eureka - I Will Wait
Community Center - Bee's Nest Hair
Motherwhore - I Am Not Lying (Live)
Heather Maloney - Nightstand Drawer
Jeanette Lynne - What Can I Say
Liz Longley - Bad Habit
The Workmen (aka Arizona Lights) - Reasons
Carsie Blanton - Baby Can Dance
Hemming - Some of My Friends
Vita and the Woolf - Feline

If you want to hear the full versions of each song, check out our YouTube playlist of the versions featured or our Mixcloud mixtape of the (mostly) studio versions. Also, make sure to check out the blog for links to each artist's website and/or bandcamp page.

Dunno if Kittens will be back this week with more backgrounds of the people underneath the Gawker articles, but I'll be back next week with some shit about vaporwave--that music genre you've never heard of.

Episode 59 - Zac & Me & Blerg & Me

Blerg & Me drank while listening to the Zack & Me episode. I told him to pick the worst episode, but apparently he likes this one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Blerg sorta interviews me. We also talk about the differences between the Australian and American medias again.

It’s all very problematic.

That’s about it. Real episode next week, hopefully. Our drunken Netflix podcast coming… maybe soon-ish. Maybe Kittens will post something this week?

Episode 58 - Brandon Dumais

Today on the show is Brandon Dumais! If you know how to say it, you're a good person. On top of forgetting how to say his name, I just remembered I forgot to have him remind me how he can be 2/3rd Thai.

Brandon does a lot of things, almost none of which you can find online because he's basically computer illiterate. He's a poet, co-creator of the Remedial Art Class zine, sk8er boi (his preferred nomenclature), noise musician, and guest on this podcast.

I'll help him get his zine online eventually, but in the meantime you can try to listen to his Christmas album, "Subpoenas for Santa Claus," or his contribution to the Edgar Allen Poecast.

We both get progressively drunk during this interview. This probably wouldn't have happened otherwise.

Dunno if KittensAndUnicorns is back this week, but fingers crossed!

Episode 57 - Phineas Narco

This interview is almost a month old and I recorded the intro a few hours before David Bowie's death was announced, so there's nothing about that. Maybe next week.

Anyway, today I talked to Phineas Narco!

Phineas is best known these days for the National Cynical Network, which the website boasts is "A Latent Einstein Outreach Ministry by Phineas Narco of the Church of the Subgenius."

We talk about the history of the National Cynical Network, the Church of the Subgenius, his Midnight Voicejail series, his different FM and internet radio programs, and his history with Don Joyce, Over The Edge, and Negativland.

I also play the first 5 minutes of his 6-hour New Years Eve show on KFJC, Favourable Mutations.

And... that's all. Kittens might be back this week? If not, probably next week.

So, yeah, subscribe! And support our guests! And us! We're on Paypal and Patreon!
